Air: The Shoe that Carries Weight

I love those movies where you know the outcome but you don't know what it took to get there. It's like when someone tells you a survival story, or how they met the one they love, you know the end but you enjoy the journey and suspense of getting there.

Air is that kind of film. It takes you on the journey of how Nike went from essentially irrelevant in the basketball shoe world, to the most iconic basketball shoe of all time.

It's interesting how a name, or person can give an object meaning. Like Mrs. Jordan (Viola Davis), "A shoe is just a shoe until my son steps into it." Attaching a name/person to something or someone brings meaning and carries weight. This is a great illustration for Exodus 3:15 when God gives His name "Yahweh" to Moses. It's God's name and character that carries the weight and significance of Moses and Israel. Significance comes from reputation/character, and that is what this film is all about.
