Dune - An Epic with A Deliverer

Wow, visually this movie is a 10/10. But that’s expected when Greg Frazier is the DP (Foxcatcher, The Batman). The directing is also incredible, with such a large cast and crew, and a dense story Denis Villenevue shows once again why he’s one of the best in the game! 

On another note. I find it interesting that movies that are called “Epics” always deal with the theme of a savior or chosen one who will deliver. This idea that an epic is inherently connected to a savior is no surprise to me. This theme resonates deeply with human beings who long for a deliverer who is both powerful and good and can win. Hebrews 12:1-3 says that Jesus in that way is a Savior. He’s the author (the hero who trailblazes to victory), and perfecter (the finisher) of faith. Dune is another movie that looks and feels epic and is inherently tied to the concept of a savior who delivers.
