Richard Jewell Binge or Bust? 1 Minute Review
Have you ever been wrongfully accused? Most have been, but usually in front of a small crowd. Imagine being wrongfully accused in front of millions. Going from hero to zero within a matter of hours. Richard Jewell is a remarkable true story about a man who took his job seriously, saved hundreds of lives, and was painted by news media to be a villain. It’s a beautifully made film, filled with powerful performances and orchestrated by the master filmmaker Clint Eastwood.
I think the movie flopped at the Box Office due to a controversy surrounding one of the characters portrayed in the film. There was a newspaper company complaining about the movie prior to its release which marred its performance.
Richard Jewell is instructive on several things: the power of government to destroy a man’s life, the deceptiveness of main stream media to sell articles, and a historical moment that rocked the nation. But what Richard Jewell is really about is perseverance. It’s a story of a man and his mom enduring a life altering hardship, with only one person by their side, a lawyer who genuinely cares.
BINGE! I give this movie a solid 8.5 out of 10 and highly recommend it.
