I'm Thinking of Ending Things

I’m thinking of ending this movie...the thought crossed my mind multiple times but I stuck with it and lost precious time that I’ll never get back.

It’s a Charlie Kaufman film so expect characters who can’t express their deep feelings, a lot of philosophical dialogue, loneliness, and meaningless scenes that are like a ship tossed in the sea. If you’re into that, you’ll probably love this movie. Here’s how it flowed for me:

Act 1 Strong Start
Act 2 Super Suspenseful
Act 3 Strangely Stupid

Once you realize what the movie is about from the 3rd act then it’s clear all the build up leads to a dead end. This plot device is overused and the artsy ending that was supposed to be “different than what the audience expected” just came across awkward and out of place.

2 out of 5 stars for the fine acting, production design (wall paper was amazing) and beautiful cinematography.
